Hello and thank you for your post , as you can see not much info about Carter on here. Before there were a few drivers from Carter but not much info.
Let me bore you with my story lol I have been working in South Korea for almost 12 years and just bought a house in Kokomo Indiana and am planning to move back soon and always thought I would like to drive a truck. I am 63 and have worked on airplanes most of my life and am ready to do something different for the few years I have before I retire.
At first I thought I would enjoy taking the wife and we would see the states ( she is from Philippines ) so going over the road seemed like it would be okay.
Then we got a dog , so we thought we could still go otr and take the dog. But we got another bigger dog and a new house so we no longer are looking for otr and my wife will be staying home but I would still like to drive. So I have been looking for something local or just out and back home for a few days.
I had planned on going to Sage cdl school and they were working with Carter so all seemed good , I even went to Carter in Anderson , IN and talked with them. But I was not quite ready to leave Korea at that time.
Now we are ready to move back home and ready to go get my cdl but don't know much about Carter so maybe you can give me some answers , its nice to be able to communicate with a driver and I really appreciate any info you can share. Now for a few questions ??????
1. The house we bought is in Kokomo , Indiana which is about 1 hour north of Anderson terminal so if I got hired there would I have to drive to work and then drive the truck to where ever , come back to terminal and then drive home or do they let you take a truck home ?
2. Can you tell me about some of the dedicated routes , like from where to where ? How long out and back. ?
3. Do they have routes where you are just out maybe 1 or 2 days at a time ? And do you get a couple days off a week ???
4. I hear the trucks are mostly Volvo automatics with no APU , is this right ?
5. How long are you with a trainer , do they still hire new cdl holders or help you get your cdl ?
And feel free to share any/all info you have
Are you on Facebook , wondering if you had any pics / video of you driving or just trucking in general pics ?
Thanks again for posting -
Do you still drive for them? How is it a year later
