Flatbed trailer specs

What brand did you go with? If you said it I missed it

 

I like a wider flange under the rub rail...makes it easier to hook your straps, especially on a windy day.

 

I had the j hook track down the side and down the main rail. Down the main rail was nice for the vermiculite pallets. (it's tall insulation). Run the straps over like normal then run a 2" front to back. It held it together very well.

 

Disks with good ABS system.
Don't buy the cheapest,get the one with more then 1 modulator.
Disks have now been developped to where problems are less then with drums.

 

In our fleet we have 2 tractors and 1 trailer with disks. Everything is well over 400k miles. Never even been looked at. Did have a couple of weepy drive axle seals. Wes told it required a little more work than drums but no brake components replaced.

If I was ordering new it would be a requirement for me.

 

Oh they do get brake dust all over the wheels though so you might want to upgrade to durabrite wheels?

 

...and those won't look right with the side boxes, so you'll have to upgrade those, too. But then the new side boxes will clash with the chicken lights, so you'd better upgrade them, too, to get the fancy bezel...but then they won't look good next to the winches, so you'll need to upgrade them by having them chrome plated. Of course then they'll look out of place against the dull aluminum, so you'll have to upgrade to a polished deck and frame. Of course then your trailer will look like a million bucks, and just won't look good behind that truck, so you'd better start on the upgrades to that, too...

It's a never-ending cycle...

 

Tug Toy,Durabright (unless they have improved in the last couple off years) are very good unless you drive in snow/ice area's in winter.
The salt really attacks them.
Mine are now 8y old and are dull.
Personally i prefer to buy the cheapest Alcoa's and paint them.
