If you get your convictions expunged or dismissed (depending on the policy in the State you reside in) you won't have to divulge your convictions in a job application (except for certain sensitive government jobs).
Go to your home State's court website and look up Expungement or Dismissal of a misdemeanor conviction.
Marijuana charges are a Class B misdemeanor in Texas, so you will need to petition the D.A.'s Office and also ask for your records to be sealed.

Students who go through company paid training programs get hit with a high bill that you pay off through driving for them. Roehl, for example, requires 120,000 dispatched miles to pay for schooling or $5,000. What if you decide half way through that OTR isn't for you? It is a hard lifestyle, after all. Or a better job comes along? Roehl does NOT pro rate the bill. It is $5,000 out of your pocket whether you complete 3 miles or 119,999 miles of your contract.
Private schooling is a better deal over all. Look into Workforce Investment Act funds or student loans to cover the bill, and have some freedom in choosing your first job. -

Chinatown Thanks this.

So yes, company paid will probably be the best path for you in particular. Just do a lot of research before choosing a training company. -

What you need to know is that all trucking school is, is a way to get your CDL. You will not know anything about driving a truck until you actually start doing it daily. So spend as little as you can on the "school" part. If you pay $4000 to go to a school but can get hired for 40 cpm out of school, which you can, that is better then getting "free" school and working for 28 cpm. 40 cpm on 100,000 miles is 40,000. 28cpm works out to 28,000. So free school cost you $12,000.
Pay attention to the future by always working hard but taking time to enjoy life. As for the Marijuana usage know this. I stayed in a motel in Denver. Across the street was a dispensary. I got the worse case of bed bugs from the motel stay. -
Companies hire you but the insurance say you are a risk companies hands are tied
