This is not my story, but thought I'd post it so others can learn from this experience. If you work for a company and get an overweight fine, follow up on it and make sure it's paid. Get a receipt!

The ticket is written to the company or truck owner who usually bills the driver.
-
Overweight citations are usually written to the driver, unless in Ca. where it's possible to have a prearranged agreement to bill the co.
okiedokie, Dave_in_AZ, BUMBACLADWAR and 2 others Thank this. -
In Georgia, they charge the overweight ticket to the company
Dave_in_AZ and OPUS 7 Thank this. -
South Carolina will go after the driver for any unpaid overweight fines.
Former company in (NC) failed to pay an overweight I received in SC. I was notified by SC that they were going to request my home state (Ga) suspend my driving privileges until paid.
After many phone calls to old (NC) employer, I received a notice by mail from (SC) stating the fine was paid and they were withdrawing the request to have my license suspended in my home state (Ga).
All company drivers receiving overweight fines from South Carolina should follow up. If unpaid, SC will notify and request license suspension from your home state.Alabama Rose Thanks this. -
Steel Dragon, if you watch the video, he scaled it first and it was legal. Knight told him he did everything correctly, followed company policy and was in the clear and they promised to pay it. See the video for the consequences he had to pay since they didn't follow through.
