central freight horrible!!!

I remember when Jerry Moyes bought shares in Central Freight about 20 years ago. He later took the company private and proceeded to bleed it dry in the years since. I think his intent was to use Swift drivers as slavewage linehaul and undercut all the other LTL's. His scheme never panned out and Central's now a mere shadow of what it was back in the day. Not sure what his interest is now, if at all.

 

You can live pretty decent on $20 an hour in Texas....and, no you could not do better than that without a CDL and/or degree in a specialized gig in Texas.

 

I have seen quite a few memos at different businesses saying something along the line "turn away central trucks, no loading/unloading central trucks". Shouldnt they please shippers and receivers with all that money they save on drivers?

 

i don't know. but i just started at central. starting pay is 21.00 / hour with 5000 sign on bonus. .50 cent raise every three months. caps at 27.00
