We get the Fontaine 48' flats with a closed tandem axles. Steel beams and steel bed with wood. The heavier the trailer the better for us. We get 14 winches on the rail with a headboard. LED lights (minimum number), aluminum rims, and sliding tandems. We have 6 of those right now. Thinking about going with some shorter Doonan trailers, something along a 40' trailer. I believe that we have them all with the 24" king pin setting.

Just curious, why heavier the better?
-
Because sometimes it takes a heavy trailer to haul a heavy load. Lightweight aluminum trailers can haul just about whatever you want, but sometimes it takes a good old fashioned "Lead sled" to get the job done.
-
Never heard of those either but that looks like a #### good idea. Do they make them for portables?
-
We aren't concerned with the weight of the trailer. The heavier it is the less weight I have to put on it to get the desired weight that I want to pull. I don't pull commercial freight. I pull concrete blocks that never come off of the trailer once they are put on there.

Didnt see that one coming. Some kinda tire test rig or something?
-
I believe that they do.

More about what powers the truck testing but in the end we end up testing the entire truck. We've broken pretty much everything we can on a truck, driveshafts, axles, differentials, transmissions, engines, and one frame.

Nice. Open road or closed course?
