Id like to install a cab/ coolant heating system in my classic to avoid idling in winter but still have heat while keeping engine warm for cold starts.i see there are several options...
What do you recommend?

An APU that integrates into the coolant system of the truck OR
two Espar units, one to heat the engine and the other to heat the sleeper/cab.
Your choice, you will spend money either way.Opendeckin Thanks this. -
Espar and Webasto are the most common brands here in Canada.
You could leave the cab heater running all weekend and still have enough power to operate the engine heater and start the truck.
The engine heaters do use more power, as they have a coolant pump in them. Therefore they operate on a timer that you set for two hours before you wish to start the truck.
I parked a truck for the weekend, on Monday morning it was -34 outside. The truck fired right up almost like it was summer.
One trick I learned is that they work better if you set it for 2-1/2 hours before you want to start. It only runs for two hours, but the heat of the coolant seems to have a bit more time to soak into the block better when it is really cold. -
