Now aint that the dammmmmmm truth.
Never fails, be the only truck parked in a lot, here they come.....

I think I sort of figured it out. They can’t back up in the open. gotta have something to use for a guide.

Watched a dry box driver try and back up to a load ramp out in a lot. must have been 20 tries to get it.

In all truths, some days things just don’t go

I never thought of that. SHEESH.

I go park in the middle of nowhere howling reefer away from two rows of dinnertime drivers way over yonder.

By midnight they are lining up on me. Lining up I say. Not the stupid lines and park and view bubbles. But on me. Then each other... ugh.

I know plenty of people at my company that drive flats. It's because they are too lazy to use a tire gauge or thumper. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Everybody does with no lines on the ground. Without those it's nearly impossible to hit a dock square. Of course, flatbed drivers wouldn't know about that because they never back up. :laughing6: :p

I think you misunderstood my sarcasm. Been hauling fuel for 6 months and pulled flatbed for 4.5 years before that

Flatbed drivers back up more than most think.
How else do we get out of the fuel islands.

Sure we do. You just don't see it as often because it doesn't take us twenty minutes to back into a wide open spot like the guys with training walls. When you spend twenty minutes holding up a line of trucks trying to get it in, everyone sees it. When you just get it done, not many people see it.

Oh, and we don't talk about it as much, because unlike door slammers, backing up is neither the most interesting, nor the most difficult part of the day.

    *Shots fired.*
