I don't know why this poor guy had the problem, is it the quality of the harness, damage, corrosion, it is impossible to say from a distance. -
That harness can cause a wide range of issues and you very well may have had the same experience with a Cummins engine. Blaming it on the engine in this case is silly. It's an electrical problem.
Also, you're saying this truck cost you $80,000 in maintenance costs? I'm sorry, but I don't believe that for a second. There's absolutely no way unless you, yourself, were not properly maintaining it.
Don't get me wrong, the MX had a lot of issues - especially when it was newer and there was a lot less dealer support, knowledgeable techs, and they went through a lot of parts revisions on them. But $80,000 in maintenance costs? No. You didn't follow your maintenance schedules.
Everytime I've heard a driver / company make this claim and then ask for them to provide documentation of when they're doing their oil changes, their filter changes, their DPF cleanings - etc, we find that they're WAY OUTSIDE of their schedules. Don't blame the truck, the engine, or the aftertreatment system - regardless of who makes it, when you're not following proper instructions.Goodysnap and daf105paccar Thank this. -
@Belials
....Blaming it on the engine in this case is silly. It's an electrical problem....That harness is a part of the engine not a home internet provider's wiring or something else. All kind of CanBus-s, J bla bla are installed on modern trucks you feel like you drive a desktop computer or laptop and not a truck.Oxbow Thanks this. -

After your one year warranty is up, if that harness fails, go ahead and try to say "but it's part of the engine, it should fall under my engine warranty (2 years, 250/000 miles)!!!!!" and you'll be told "no, sorry, it's actually part of your chassis".Goodysnap Thanks this. -

I couldn't read all pages to busy.
But I deleted my 2013 mx13 epa 10 t680
The first signs of after treatment issues
Ot 9nly cost me $3500
And I have had almost a million trouble free miles 963k now
This is the only way these engines should be fixed.
So grow a pair and fix your paccar once and for all. And protect your "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"Aamcotrans Thanks this. -
