Starting out, need some advice on getting dads Pete rolling

    Hello all, new to the forums, here's my situation;
    My father left me a 04 387 Peterbilt and runs great, its sitting in our alley and Its needed to get my family fed. The issue is the very rear gearbox yoke nut...I need to replace the bearing in that and am stuck on the yoke nut. I first need advice on what kind of torque impact wrench I need, I have access to a quincy air compressor w an ACFM of 17/2 @ 175 PSIG. I have a couple of options hoping to get some honest answers on each please,

    the red matco is a used MT2234 Matco Tools Impact Wrench 3/4" Composite High Torque 1800 ft/lb torque
    the black is a HUSKY 3/4 IN. IMPACT WRENCH 1400 FT.-LBS H4490
    and the bad mama jama silver is from tool planet a stark 2000 ft/lb torque,
    any advice?? please help? I don't want to be stuck w one that doesn't do the job the silver one is really cheap price don't want it to break on me, and yeah please help!

    I would buy the tool and be done with it.

    You can then do a thousand uses out of it if not more.

    Remember, the one thing in life does not include both of these words "Cheap and good" If it's cheap it's cheap for a reason... and not a good one.

    well I am wanting to buy the proper impact, just was wanting opinions on brand and what kind of torque I will need to get that nut off, I plan on heating the heck out of it w a torch,
    the stark (2000ft/lb) is $200
    the matco (1800ft/lb) is $280 used, although new they go for $900
    and the husky is like $60

    not sure which is the better deal out of the three, I really want that stark it looks the most heavy duty but for $200 brand new its very fishy, should I just go w that matco?

    If it's used, inquire with the seller why he or she is selling it?

    I would pay the Stark and give it a chance now that you brought the torch into the problem. (Heat) I would want a metal housing on that impact wrench rather than any kind of burnable plastic etc.

    i don't think it'll need heat,and wouldn't do it if not needed.

    what tool did you use to pull that yoke? would I be able to pull it w a regular puller or do I need one of these heavy duty like tiger makes?

    I had my ProStar lose the carrier bearing on the road, which was a good thing, as we wound up putting all new u-joints in the driveline. When it came time for the yoke, the shop had to send it out to a machine shop to remove it. If the truck has been sitting, I see a machine shop in your future.
