Like what was said before, why would an experienced driver want to be put in line behind a punk ### kid and get the scrapes? Why would he want to work for an outfit where experience doesn't account for anything when he can get plenty of jobs where it does?
-
It's by the hr. I prefer not to go into details on the Net about my personal finances. But a short review would be ok. $60/hr base pay+time and half after 8. 12 hrs@7 days/wk.already gone and JReding Thank this.

Some of these people might not believe you. I do.
I worked testing electrical apparatus. In 98, I had a six figure income per year. Based on $27 an hour. Worked a ton. Last year I worked there. When I went on vacation in October. I had taken 7 days off the entire year. That includes Holidays, Weekends, and all. I would make as much as $1K in one 12 hour day. I ended up almost dead from diabetes causing weight loss. There is no treatment for that. It either stops, or you die.
I checked with those guys in 07. They were making 1/4 million a year.rabbiporkchop and okiedokie Thank this. -
Why not stay at one job? That "punk ###" kid you talk about will be retired and collecting a pension while working one of your jobs that you seem to have plenty of. Don't think that just because you have more experience you're a better driver.

I can appreciate not wanting to get into details here, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it.
Personally, I wouldn't want to work all that overtime, the paychecks just aren't worth it to me. And I'll take my 4-5 days a week over potentially having to work up to 7 days.
And I'm still on track to retire comfortably at age 62.WesternPlains and okiedokie Thank this. -
I hear ya hand. It was my last project (7 months). I could of kept working but it would be nice to enjoy some time with the family and my hobbies at home. No more trucks for me. Good day.

Someone with a new cdl and a new union card has more seniority than someone with twenty years driving? No thank you. Unions are no different than any other forms of socialism. They need to keep experienced works down while attracting young workers. It is the only way it can feed on itself.
Your pension is like another socialism racket that can't keep up, Social Security. It's one of the reasons that the government doesn't want to deport illegal aliens. They are paying into the system and hopefully they won't collect.
As for my retirement, I have a 401k and IRAs. -
Grocery haulers compared to YRC is like night and day. When I worked for YRC I was lucky to take home $650 for a week after taxes but the dental insurance covered $400 per person per year. Now with grocery haulers I'm taking home an extra $300 a week on average
( and that's at 80% of rate )
along with an extra $1,000 a month in dental coverage that comes at no expense to me. Then again it's a different local so I'm doing better than most people in my areaalready gone Thanks this. -
A lot of folks would prefer to retire 20 years sooner hence the overtime.already gone Thanks this.
