Hey guys, I am currently an Owner Op out of Calgary Alberta for TransX, I routinely fight with planners because of load times, and operations because of unpaid wait time. I am normally early for EVERY load I get put on. I mean like 6+ hours early. Earliest being 29 hours. I honestly don't know how these guys make a living taling the time they do. Anyway.

I am looking at Landstar and to eventually get my own reefer, only bad thing is the orientation only shows that day for loads so I actually have no concept of loads leaving western Canada or how things work at landstar for Canadian guys. If someone would take a few minutes to answer a few questions of mine I would appreciate it.
    Big ones are.
How are loads coming out of the west?
Can you get home easily when you want to?
    How is the pay structure?
What do you roughly make a mile?
How does the pay work for you?
    Is it a worthwhile venture?

    BigHossVolvo Thanks this.

Pretty much the same I know from a couple. They ran in a kind of a truck share model with Landstar in the flatbed division. They quit within a year.

Steve, please email me when you have a minute. I'd appreciate the opportunity to discuss outbound freight out of Western Canada. rkuperberg@landstar.com. Thanks, Ron

A friend of mine is leased to Landstar....says it's the best trucking job he's had in 20 years. Get a couple of good relationships with brokers/shippers and you're set

    MartinFromBC and BigHossVolvo Thank this.

I pulled my plates and insurance and parked the truck while I'm recouping from a hip replacement. When I come back out I want to go to deck work. Have experience but it was a few years ago. Looked at Landstar a bunch of years ago but they were almost non existing as far as the east coast is.
Anybody down east run with them?
    And a question...
If your east and there are loads in Ontario for the south, can you get loads Canada to Canada even tho you have US plates?
I know I can get my own loads to get me to Toronto area is the reason for the question.
    Thanks.

  11. Manny Landstar Canadian bcos seem to also have dual citizenship which makes it easier when they apply for it..
depends on the application you're looking for if you're looking for flatbed freight you're going to struggle as a Canadian with landstar you'll have to be very patient take loads to pay a little more money so you can lay over a little more often...with the van you might do okay cuz there's a lot of automotive freight that landstar runs into Canada..you would just have to try to find the right agent especially if you're closer to the eastern part from say minnesota
    from international falls East

    Elroythekid Thanks this.
