Anyone purchase a truck from Schneider?
I notice they have 2 Pete 587's for sale,2012,and a 2013.
Both have 450k mileage,$42-$47 k.
I'm guessing since they are the only 2 left,that others have found issues with them
Schneider called me today,but wanted a conference call with tabs..I declined the invitation.
Your thoughts?

I don't personally no anyone who went thru Schneider finance. But why did they want to conference with atbs? Surely they don't require to use their sh*##y ripo## service?

I bought a used truck from Schneider this past March of 2017. I did not lease to Schneider and was not offerred a loan with Schneider Finance. They did refer me to an actual third party lender broker who was able to get me financed. Bought a 2011 Cascadia 470k miles, midroof, white color as seen on my profile for $28,500. I will add that after owning this ex-schneider truck for 7 months, i had driven it over 78k miles and put in over $20k into repairs, and tires. My biggest expense was the Emission related error codes, and all 10 new tires. The DD15 motor and tranny all worked flawlessly. In shop over 10 times for emission related issues.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
Buying any current emissioned truck 2011 or newer with DEF Fluid and DPF filter is very high risk. Once the emission component (mainly sensors) act up, Urea in DEF fluids starts to crystallize, clogging the DEF system, you will be writting a lot of checks. When a cheap plastic sensor cost $400 for the part alone, and there are a lot of sensors, repair bills stack up.
I am not blaming Schneider or just Freightliner for this issue, i am blaming poor engineering by all of the truck manufacturing companies.
I am going to save money and buy a used 2007 or older truck and not have to deal with the headache with these current trucks.Steel Dragon and sealevel Thank this. -

Owning a truck is not the same as owning a personal property like a car. A truck is a business and it needs maintenance. I have put in roughly $20k in repairs and going to put more into it before this year end yet it is worth less than $20k right now if i decides to quick sale it. I am still putting money into it because the truck is generating me income and is providing for my family. The downtime alone cost me more than $20k because i lost a lot of income while the truck is in the shop.
This is the reality that all owner operators faces when buying a truck. Truck maintenance is a known expense, but roadside assistance and downtime costs are usually gloss over in most projections. I am more afraid of the downtime cost than the repair bills.
This is my first emission truck but this truck is the 8th truck i have owned. I bought this truck because my previous older pre-EGR trucks have a lot of maintenance as well.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
Just the other day, i saw on Craigslist posting on the same looking trucks as mine from my lender. These would have been repo trucks.
Only way to survive with these newer emission truck is to get $2+ per loaded mile.Steel Dragon Thanks this.
