Longhaul is this typical or a bad driver?

Can’t watch all this video obviously a new driver who thinks he knows more then he actually does.

 

LOL. But, what if it was documentary on dirty shirts?

 

This dude is killing it; $16,389 in 11 months.

Really though, that was what Swift was like before the elogs; you spent your day writing paper, coloring in the book, to make things work for the company and in the end you still got stiffed with low miles and pay. I appreciate that, because no matter what I say on the matter some newbies here are in denial what Swift, or any other mega, was like.

It is pretty easy to pick on this fool, his know-it-all lack of knowledge, but really is probably one of the more together drivers at Swift. That is not saying a lot.

As corny and stupid as this guy is he has more going for him then the a good majority of Swift drivers. And it is really easy to make fun of him but he is just parroting some of the same talking points we hear everyday, 10 years after he made this.

 

I got through maybe 3 minutes of it, all BULLSH**.

Look I would love to slap these idiots who produced this comedy.

The first driver shows exactly what's wrong - too much ignorance in this industry.

He's been driving for ten years and seen all these changes to the industry?

Where?

I can only count two things that have changed; one is ELDs which a lot of people are crying about, and the DOT physicals have gotten stupid.

That's it.

Compared to say 1990, a lot of changes happened but they are not in the regulation end of things.

We ended up being caught without knowledge of the internet age and we are still catching up.

Compared to 1980, a lot of changes happened and they were in the regulations end of things.

Deregulation screwed us in many ways, opened the door for more abuse of drivers and independents and had us fooled it was a great thing.

We lack professionals, those who I saw were no where close to being a professional truck driver.

As cowboy idiot said, it is easy to get a job driving truck.

BUT as many don't seem to get the regulations and laws that have been passed are because we are too lazy to get out of our trucks and go into a truck stop and talk to our fellow drivers.

Our world is more isolation, less human contact and more excuse making for our actions. When we are away from the normal world, we end up like animals (take it like you want) and get guys pissing at the fuel isles or dumping their crap or even taking one in the parking lot.

Those regulations and laws protect us from ourselves, we have so little self-control when we are behind the wheels, just look at the stupid accidents that happen.

Daily I see crap I get angry over and today was no different, maybe it is my aversion to risk causes me to look at things like that but when you got a line of trucks and you can't get between them with a small car let alone something like my pickup truck, then there is a serious illustration of lack of good driving skills.

So this little comedy video should be show to new drivers to tell them not to be stupid. Learn your trade, don't treat it like it is just a job, like cowboy idiot was like.

Did not watch but fast forwarded to 1.25 and he is showing his pay statement $16,289 for 10 months. Well I guess you get what you pay for

No, that's not how it is. Unless one wants it to be that way I guess.

No, this is not what it's like today, even at the mega carriers that most people seem to hate for one reason or another. All the megas already use elogs and everyone's going to have to switch to them next month, so forget about cheating. Cops will usually leave you alone if you drive under the speed limit and keep your logs and equipment legal. Keep your truck clean, free of clutter, and you won't deal with many inspections either. There are plenty of unorganized dirty drivers who I will gladly watch get inspected instead of my tidy ###. It's not too difficult to make at least $50k a year even as a newbie, and if you work hard and find a good-paying gig 70k + is totally feasible.

The video's not 100% BS but most of it is.

 

I didn't watch the whole video, just bits and pieces, so I'm not sure what happened. Maybe he was speeding? Or he didn't actually get the green light? Always use a dashcam, preferably one that records your location and speed. If you get cited for something you didn't do, your video might prove you not-guilty in court.
