First - Well said.
Second - Sorry to hear of your loss.
and third -To expound on the quoted part above to all; An instructor told me that we are regulated by the government, laws are enforced by LEOs but we are controlled by the insurance companies. Insurance plays a huge part in everything you do with trucking. In our litigious society one would be foolish to run a trucking company (or any company that deals with the public) without insurance. Let me tell you having dealt with insurance underwriters for awhile, the slightest thing can change your risk and affect your coverage/premiums/policy. Costing the company thousands in increased premiums or worse. How many people have had their insurance skyrocket (or even cancelled) for one ticket. Hiring "risky" drivers may very well negate their policy leaving them without coverage. Put the blame where it belongs. It's usually not the fault of the company because their hands are tied by the insurance underwriters.

I think that here is a good place for me to just have learned some good things. This and some other threads have certainly helped me define my own ideas more clearly, and I am grateful to everyone who posts here because it allows me to be a part of something larger than myself. I want also, to sincerely apologize for using the term "stonecasters". The fact that I didn't get my head taken off for that says a lot about the maturity of the other posters.

it was a "trying time" for me not to fly off at you......................
then only "god knows" i would have been "infractionized" again.................... -
Do you know what has happened here?
Through cool heads and the exchange of opinions and insight, we have been able to discuss controversy without it resorting to behaviors that occurs everywhere else.
This is the goal that we try to keep in these forums on a daily basis.
I am not offended by being coined a "stonecaster", because I've certainly been called much worse for holding onto the opinions and stances that I consider important to me.
People can agree sometimes. Sometimes they cannot. But, even in cases where people can agree to disagree, it's still a productive discussion.
I'm pleased as punch that you feel the way you do about these forums. It's the highest compliment I think that I have ever read in regard to our collective efforts to provide a decent place to congregate and to discuss. -
Thank you.
That's it in a nutshell.... -
Okay, so I have to laugh, as I signed into this forum there is an advertisement at the top of the page that reads detox your body in 5 hours fast - hmmmm....
I wanted to say "thanks" to all of the posts in this forum regarding this topic. It is truly an enlightenment to read everyone's comments and especially helpful in getting across to my husband that the reality of his drug use is not widely accepted by other drivers in the industry and having him read the hard-core comments replied upon the act of his stupidity has hit him like a brick - It really could not be more of an eye-opener - No longer do I hear the comments of I should have done this or I lost my job because of this - Now, he is finally accepting of the fact that he lost his job because he used drugs - simple fact -
I should note that he is making positive choices in an effort to stop the abuse. He has already made some good first steps but it will be a long road to recovery but hopefully always steps forward from here on out. Sympathy I will not give him, but I will support him in his effort to abstain from use of drugs.
I guess I partly feel some to blame. As his wife, I accepted this, and in doing so enabled him to continue on using - he was probably thinking to himself - well it's okay she doesn't say not to - yes, these are his choices and, yes, no-one can control what other people do, but, I did not inspire him to quit either. As a wife, I hate being a "nag," so I would voice my opinion about the whole thing - the responsibilities, the consequences - hell, I even sat down with him and highlighted the drug abuse policy before he even went out on the new job - but again these are his choices and I had no control - but never really did I put my foot down and say NO! Again, I felt that I did not want to be the one he resented for putting my foot down and probably at that point if I had he would of continued behind my back, so I felt that he had to hit his own "rock bottom" in order to quit. He had to see it for himself - and so now here here we are at last - and reminded now of the song by Queen - Crazy little thing called "love."
So with that, I just want to say to all the other spouses and users out there, read these posts with integrity - nobody wins in this situation - and while I am sure there are some of you out there reading and keeping quiet because you use yourself or know someone who drives and uses - don't be naive to believe your never going to be that stupid or get caught or just don't give a #### if you do - because all the bag warmers and chemically manufactured urine, detox drinks, standbys, etc...are not worth the loss of your diginity, the value of who you are, your family/freinds, job, etc....and really if you need drugs to make you "feel good," I think you better ask yourself the question "WHY?" I did just that and well opened up a whole other can of worms (that would be in the Dr. Phil Forum, LOL) I guess for most of us it is just easier to pull the shades down over our eyes then to really see what is going on -
Well, I hope by sharing our expierence this will enlighten others to not use drugs or to think twice about their choices - that is some way this can be a positive out of a negative! Again, Thanks to all of you and responses !
This is my LIFE LESSON #4 (I sure hope I don't get too many more!) -
Are you sure about that? If so, I am going to notify Wiseone so that he can investigate. He is very sensitive on that issue, and you have to understand that the ads placed on this site are often bundled, with no control whatsoever as to content. Still, if there is such an ad being run, he'll dump the advertiser in a heartbeat.
I'm glad to hear this, and sorry at the same time that he is going through this. None of us are perfect.
God bless you. That's what he will need the most, and you are a good person to stand by him. -
come back when you can and inform us of any "updates" to his/your situation, we would like to know.

OK my thoughts...This post kinda makes me think about the jon benet case and the guy that just admitted to killing her even though it was proven that he did not. I drink beer every now and then in a social atmoshere and don't consider myself a "drug user". I am perplexed that no one has talked about the worst legal drug that exist in the world today. It is a drug that is readily available and cheap....cigarettes:smt033 ....T

I have read all the opinions good and bad in this thread. Turbo My condolances, I know your pain, lost my lil bro in 2004 to what I believe to be an impaired driver.
But I decided to become a Professional Driver I also decided that using pot didnt match that decision. That decision was reinforced when I was in school and learned that I would be in control of a vehi9cle that would wiegh 30,000 lbs or more.
Furthermore 3 things happen when you smoke pot
1. You feel good like you can do anything
2. You become distracted and disorientated
3. You crash
THOSE THINGS DO NOT BELONG BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A SEMI
