No real address is a no no and they are wise to the old box rental routine . Must have physical address. But you can use a friend or relatives address with their permission as your physical address and use your po box as your mailing address. You gotta get mail sometimes anyway.

So if all my mail went to a po box they wouldn't accept that as a physical address?

To the op, hate to throw water on this idea but you ever think if something happens that he can't drive because he is not a good driver or got into an accident, what your going to do then?

Too many people use this as a last resort and it seems most of them failed to see the problems associated with events on the road like an accident or poor driving skills. Some who shouldn't be on the road are, they and their spouses claim that their driving skills are good but when in fact they are part of the cdl mill that manufacturers bad drivers and are poor and dangerous drivers.

As for the address, get a physcial address, not a op box, I have been told there is a chance that a cdl can be revoked because of a po box, I've already seen a couple applicants who had their licenses revoke because of no physical address, so it can happen.

Due primarily to REAL ID requirements, you must have a physical address for residency/license, etc

Denver is not too bad in winter. Generally anything a foot or less you can get around in.

Donner is bought and paid for by a number of lives lost by the Donner Party when they tried to beat winter in the 1800's and got stranded for months. One by one they passed on.

Donner is 44 miles downgrade and generally signed for truckers in good weather. When there are storms during winter it will usually get closed for a time. Your Husband will decide if that truck is to be parked and wait a while for conditions to improve before attempting Donner. It may be a day or few. I generally take the attitude that if you did make it to Donner, you have already crossed other mountains safely.

My style of writing tries to make Donner seem less of a terror than it can be to those who get stupid and try to run it fast, there is a particular curve downgrade that will take your truck completely off into the woods to kill people at a certain speed or faster about 1/3 of a way down. A number of you tube videos have it.

There are many mountains around the USA that I find a little more .. exciting than Donner. And I am the kind that loves mountains for what they are. If you are the slowest coming up and going down then odds are you will be fine. The Sierras have some awesome views and is worth the trip.

Chinatown beat me to it. Check into a SD address, that is very popular with full time RVers, there are tax benefits as well, there is no state income tax.

There are other sources and articles out there, this is but one example you may find helpful; Picking a Domicile State, Getting Mail & Voting as a Nomad

Kinko's or UPS stores... they have a physical address, but can be used for your general mail.

We're thinking of doing this when the last kiddo leaves the nest. Our plan is to find an RV park in a state with no state taxes and using that as home base. Still wanna get that per diem tax break
