hello guys, who knows what I’d goi on . Cummings isx 2009
Yesterday I had changed the oil ( shell rotella) on Speedco , I was a witness, when they filled it up oil level was on a proper high mark . Today after 12 hours of no idle , oil level is higher on 0.4 of an inch, . Last oil change I did oil sample , oil was clean ( antifreeze, diesel) and was over the proper level too , so who knows where that oil coming from, sorry for my grammar, thanks

They ran the engine then checked level .. The oil from up top drained down later making it a touch high.. PS a speedco oil sample isn't worth anything

When you change oil and put new oil in and after startup to fill oil filter the oil gets circulated throughout the engine. If they topped it off after that and put it at the full mark, then usually after awhile the rest of new oil comes down from up top and may lead to an overfill condition. I think this is what happened, but I would monitor it and see if it keeps climbing, hopefully it stabilizes and you don't have something else going on. Good luck.

As long as it's not overfilled too much, I wouldn't worry about it. It should burn it and get down to proper level, however I would keep checking it to be safe.

Your welcome! I am willing to bet that this happens a lot at these quick lube places. Good for you on checking the oil levels after a oil change.

What’s bad is when it’s over full and smells like diesel, or even worse, milky.

If it doesn’t smell like diesel or milky, you should be fine.
