Hopefully someone has some info or experience with this. I normally work texas only on the 12hr rules. But this week I'm hauling a tanker of milk from West Texas to little Rock Arkansas. I've been told as long as I'm back into texas before my clock expires i can stay on Texas 12. Doesn't seem correct to me.

Any experience in this would be greatly appreciated.

It's just like crossing to /from Canada. Your back 7 or back to a reset , has to comply with the territory you are in.

If a cop doesn't have time to get you , the auditors have all the time in the world!

Here is what we've been told.

if you are exclusive to Texas, you are on intrastate rules.

If you cross the state line, you are on interstate rules.

No you cannot. It dors not matter whete you are, it matters on if the load is inter or intrastate. Since the load is interstate you must follow interstate rules. Even an empty trailer would be the load, as that is what is being dispatched back from Little Rock. If you are comming back empty.
Heck even picking up a canatainer in Laredo and delivering to Dallas is interstate rules....

    haulintx Thanks this.

What do you think an Arkansas state trooper would day to that?

If you cross a state line, you have to use federal HOS regulations.

As soon as I crossed the state line my qualcom switched me to fed hours. Told boss man I'm not switching it back unless I stay in texas.
They tried to say it's legal, I just said show me the statutes, state and federal and no problems. Haven't heard a word back.....lol.

When I was on it the safety man told us that once we complete a intrastate run after the interstate one we could go back to Texas 12 hours of service, I didn’t buy it, so I always went back to running texas 12 after a reset when went out of state, this only happened hear and there on emergency loads so wasn’t a big deal for me..
