Thank you so much to hear from a hot shot guy who knows what he is talking about. Have you ever thought about going to a Freightliner sport chassis? I have been tossing it around. How do you like your dove tail I’m currently specing a trailer?

Where is the best place to park? I usually get a room but there have been occasions where I've needed somewhere to park.

I am a well seasoned hotshotter, believe me, it is not nearly what it is cracked up to be. I have been through all the trial and errors as this guy and some of what he says is true. What is not is the $2.91 per mile. Are there loads out there. YES, is it consistent NO. true adverage ppm is around $1.50. Then there is deadheading. I try and make $2. ppm is my goal. I make it most of the times. Brokers suck and YEs, Cheap, Cheaper, and Cheapest is there life long goal and name of the game, NOT your reputation or how good your truck looks. It took me many years to get some decent connections and I still have to fight dog eat dog. Hotshots can't carry the laods a big truck does, you will be shut out of allot of loads. I can not tell you how many times I have heard. "OH HOTSHOT, NO I need a real truck" Or " Hotshot no this is a Full load". Hotshots are concidered the bottom feeders of the industry and are stealing big truck loads. OH, TWIC card no need, Most military doesn't even use TWIC anymore. I have had mine for 5 yrs. and used it maybe twice. Today after being through many trucks, I will say this. If you are dumb enough to still insist in getting into this business like me. consider it may be difficult to climb out once you make the investment. You will be turned away by more loads then you can count and be prepared to deadhead a whole lot more the you use to. 4 wheel drivde is a must. big enough to sleep in is a must (I have a sleeper on mine, but allot of guys don't) Oh yea, you will get more DOT roadsides then before, DOT don't think Hotshotters know what there doing and are not real safe. Yep allot stacked up against you. Lots of competition too. Every hotshotter hunts for the light loads and if it is on the board formore then 5 minutes it is either not an actual load or the load has something wrong with it. Do yourself a favor, if you need to make money, go to McDonalds and flip burgers, you'll make more money then hotshotting.

Last year I turned down a hot shot dedicated Run. $4500. per week. Worked out to $2.42 for every mile the truck ran. Loaded 9 miles from the house. And return loaded to within 19 miles of the house. All loads were less then 10,K but had to be tared both ways.
It my be coming back up again. And I may just grab hold of it for sure.
