I'm running the Cummins X15 565/1850 in my 2018 Pete 389 you will be more than happy with it. I also pull van trailer I ordered it with 18spd and 3.55's on LP24.5's (I'm running in the Northeast). It's a total animal powerwise. I have 55,000 miles on it since putting it into service in May and have played around with different rpm's for cruising speed to see difference in mpg's. Max mpg's are at 1400rpm as I've tried running in the 1370 80 and 90 range and mpg drops. It is VERY happy running at 1500rpm but mpg drops about .3mpg which isn't a big deal to me (I usually keep it in the 1450-1500rpm range). Cummins rep was at the dealer when I ordered it and told me the X15 Performance series isn't designed to cruise for prolonged highway speeds under 1375rpm's. This engine needs to breathe and work, not lug at low rpm's down the highway. That's what the X15 Efficiency series is for. Not saying its the end all be all of engines but for a bone stock out of the box engine it gets after it. I have 3 buddies I run with on a regular basis that have 6nz Cat powered gliders with hot cat files in them, with the same exact trans, rears, and tire size as my setup and none of them can touch me on a hill. That being said I'm not bashing on the big kitty Cats just using them as a comparison. If your going with the 605/1850 version it should exceed your expectations.

The higher torque rating 18 speeds will add value to the truck for resale down the road.
