so annoyingly enough I got a ticket (in my personal vehicle) for running a yellow light. “Failure to obey traffic signal”. Will it affect my cdl? Should I fight it? I’ve never gotten a ticket before with a cdl so not sure what to do. Thanks in advance

Running a yellow (caution) light? Odd.
-
Yes you always fight tickets. Your CDL is how you earn your living. Dig in the piggy bank and hire an Attorney to get it reduced to a non moving or probation or whatever.rank, Dennixx and BUMBACLADWAR Thank this.

In the two states I know of, it's actually illegal to enter an intersection if the light is yellow. That would be MI and TX. I assume all other states are the same, but maybe not.
It's not enforced, but it's still illegal. Op must have pissed off an leo.

Just curious. What state was it?Waterboy334 Thanks this.

My state is you are clear on yellow as long as any part of your vehicle is over the white line when that light turns red. If any part of that vehicle is behind that white line and it turns red, you ran the light.

I have never heard of such a violation. Absurd as h.e. ll also. But, it is best practice to get on the brakes and stop for the yellow light, before it turns red, which should not be difficult if one is operating at, or under the speed limit and is paying attention, as they should be.

In ohio your entire vehicle must be past the white line or you can be written up for running a red light. Most times it's not enforced unless it's extremely obvious

I’m at least gonna go in on the court date and try to get it redused. Being a non-serious violation will it still affect my cdl?
