Her significant other has 10 years with this company. And has plainly stated it was not good, none of it. And gave the reason why he stayed so long.
There's an old saying that remains true. Give me a year, You'll stay for a lifetime.
This saying was presented by a CEO to recruits. I find it to be very true within the trucking industry. With a few exceptions, such as the one the lady listed in her post.
Some people do get trapped. For all kinds of reasons.
Most people want a place to call home. They don't want to change jobs. They don't want to spend every waking moment crying about their job. They just want to do it.
Defining home, as a place where people know your name, treat you with respect, and remain truthful to you at all times.
You can sugar coat it anyway you want. Werner is none of the above.
Here's a bit of fact for you.
Only 1 in 7 people will actually call a radio station. Odds are, you will speak to the same person twice a week, asking you to play the same song each time.
The odds are, of those 7 people. ALL of them like the song. They just don't call.
This is NOT true of trucking companies. Because not everyone surveyed will hate a company. -
swift is number one then schneider or jb hunt and then maybe werner -
well I dont know why he is stuck there? If he has 10 years in with werner and a good driveing record he can get on the phone today and get a better job and pay his child support. I just dont get what child support has to do with staying someplace you dont want to be. I have child support too I left werner after one year and went to a better job sooooooooooooooooo why cant he? If he stayed there that long there must be something good about it . It cant just be child support that is a sorry excuse.

I have posted on some of the other Werner posts, forgot to mention, that they fed my husband the same line of bull, they claimed they where the largest in the country . They are not even close to the top at all, they are somewhere in the top 15? I often wonder how much they pay those guys to come into the schools, and lie to all the students, then I wonder how they can continue to do this to people, week after week?

Everyone complains about the trainers. What about the students? My BF has been a trainer twice in the three years that we've been together. He's had a couple of great students. But, he's also had a couple that tried to kill him. He had one guy from Pakistan who spoke little English(and what he did say you couldn't understand). He spent most of his time on the phone speaking his own language. He didn't listen to a thing my BF tried to explain to him. He smoked the brakes going down a steep mountain grade with my BF telling him to put on the Jake Brake and take his foot off of the brake. They made it down the hill, but it was amazing that the brakes didn't catch fire. My BF said he rarely gets nervous, but he almost **** himself that day.
He got no sleep most of the time this guy was on the truck. He had to drag him out of the truckstops so they could get rolling. He makes it known at the beginning..."I will come and get you twice. The third time you don't get back to the truck in a timely fashion, you will find you have no truck waiting for you". He finally called and told the company that this guy had to go. He was a danger and probably wouldn't pass the test anyway. He refused to back up and when he did try he wouldn't listen to any advice.
So the trainers aren't all bad. My BF has patience up to a point, but it goes both ways. -

They have paid recruiters within specific areas that recruit people for local schools under the guise of the Werner banner. No they're not on Werners pay roll. But they do get paid by Werner, and area schools.
Birmingham, AL has one of these shills. I've met this dirtbag personally.
He simply takes an application from the prospective student. This application also includes a consent form. If they pass muster, they get to go to school...then straight to Werner. He thinks it's hilarious as hell that he cuts the recruiters from other companies OUT of the equation. Before the dummies even get to school.
Good gig if you can get it, I guess. -
This is exactly how I got to Werner, I called Werner, Werner gave me a number to someone they dealt with in the area I lived and I signed off for a loan, and off I went to school. You cannot honestly expect me to believe that someone said to this guy Werner was going to foot the bill for his schooling. Come on now, he's the first person in the 300 hate messages on this board to say Werner said they'd pay upfront for my schooling #1
#2 pay for everything? Only Schneider does that that I am aware of, in my school I had to pay for weekends at the hotel, all food, and my cdl and permit. I don't think there is a school out there for 3000 dollars that will front you all that.
#3 There had to be paperwork involved that was OBVIOUSLY not well read. Buyer beware. Don't go blaming Werner cause the school loans fell through. Thats like saying cause I recommended the salmon at the resturant it is my fault the salmon made you sick. Uh ifit was green when you got it don't eat it?
#4 I can't discount every single hate message toward Weiner, and I cannot vouch for every dispatcher, but for the lover of god people, common sense. Honestly, we all did the school thing or at least most of us did, does this add up at all?
1) Werner said it would pay for the schooling upfront? 2) There was no loan involved, it was all financed by Werner who for some reason made a special exception for this guy? 3) Then decided to say nevermind we want 3k 2 weeks into training??? 3k?! I paid 5k for mine o.0 -
Remember trucking companies are out to make money. The way Werner dispatches is in the following priorities, Team Werner, owner operators, regional drivers, and 48 state solo drivers. It is tough for a 48 state solo driver to get a good load from start to finish, it is usually split off somewhere along the way. In my brief time with Werner I was averaging about 1000 miles per week, nowhere near enough to feed my family. It is tough out there and good luck to the rookies going OTR. I will stick with my local Class B job and after I have enough experience I will apply to local Class A jobs where I am paid hourly.
