Swift School Tips - Memphis TN

I ran across this film of Swifts training camp.

 

I don't have anything to add about Swift other than his training will go much faster than his truck, but what I did was I had Ozark pull the passenger seat out of my truck and I bought a 3.2cf fridge/freezer that I keep plugged into the inverter. I stuff it with enough food for 2 weeks from Wal Mart. If I buy anything on the road its by choice, not necessity. I can normally put 5 nice TV dinners in there (from Boston Market or Hungry Man) without the boxes, or several small personal pizzas. For fruit I buy bananas and apples the day before I leave and a gallon of milk that expires the day I get back every time. I also have canned fruit. For drinks I use truck stop refills or a small emergency stash of bottles of soda in the pantry for times when I'm not around a truck stop that I have a free refill for.

It cost me about 60 dollars in food for a 2 week outing. And a lot of that is junk food, chips, cookies, etc.

If I have time when I'm home, I'll cook several meals and package everything into containers for the truck. Like this time I cooked some shake n bake pork chops, two large bowls of gumbo (real gumbo, I'm a coonass from south Louisiana) and some fried fish and french fries I saved from a restaurant outing with my family while I was at home. That meant most of the first week I was out I was eating home cooked meals.

The school is 5 weeks long not 3 provided you test out on the first try like I did. I started there Aug 20 and tested out on Sep 20.
