I'd love to boycott them but AMD is not as good if you have the money... The future is here.

Industries that should have automation first but are strangely absent:

1.) agriculture (combines, field tractors, and the like)
    2.) shipping (the big boats)
    3.) rail

All of these would operate with much less variables than a semi on a public road. So if Otto is right around the corner, why aren't those forms or transportation getting automated right now?

I suspect it might have more to do with lucrative research grants than profitability, how on earth is eliminating a $50k/year driver worth tripling the cost of the unit? (That's assuming the driver is completely removed and not replaced by a $20k onboard technician, and it doesn't factor in the added costs to maintain the vehicle)

Some companies can't be bothered to keep their trucks DOT compliant, and they're going to replace their greasy mechanics with a Silicon Valley clean room?

    Sheesh

When you start seeing mass roll out of the infrastructure required to support these trucks then I'd start thinking about your career longevity, as of yet I don't see mass charging stations popping up everywhere so wouldnt loose too much sleep just yet.

I wonder if that's the Nikola One again? (Ver 3.0?)

Anyway, Musk still has to meet his production targets for the Model 3 still (300k/year he just built 30 so 299,970 to go!) and, oh yeah one other thing, TESLA HAS YET TO SHOW A PROFIT AND IS ENTIRELY FUNDED BY TAXPAYER SUBSIDIES!!!

But please Elon, have another fawning media circus. It's been at least 3 months since the entire journalism industry fell to its knees unzipped your trousers and [SO VERY REDACTED!!!]

Tesla is doing some very cool stuff ... but an electric semi? I have my doubts..
Their roof shingles that apparently cost less than regular shingles and produce electricity plus the 30 year warranty is attractive. People who have paired it with the huge wall battery use way less hydro from the grid. If the numbers are true, that is a way toward a green future .... which will only happen if it actually works and makes financial sense at the same time..

As cheap as these trucking companies are, maybe they'll start buying some in fifty years or so.

The tech fanbois predicted complete (iRobot) automation back in the 80's by 00.

And "Rocket Jesus" can't even get tech that's been around 50 years off the launchpad for his Martian Utopia. All just a bunch of BS to relieve dumb ### investors of their excess cash.

Looks like an autonomous bus crashed into a US Foods truck.
Self-operating shuttle bus crashes after Las Vegas launch
They said it's the truck drivers fault but I say the bus is partly to blame also. Looks like the truck driver was backing into the dock and the autonomous bus didn't anticipate the cab of the truck would swing around. Most regular drivers would have given the truck room to back into the dock.
