It's amazing how much kids can take. My son was that way in his younger days. I told his mother the daredevil streak is in every boy's job description, it comes right after the taking a leak in the yard requirement.
On the up side, they do eventually outgrow it.

I'm pretty sure my house was cut in the front yard. I tore it back to shiplap and studs. They don't make extensions for that and I spent twenty three years in engineering for a window manufacturer. Bought alot of clear pine. Drilled every hole because the nail gun would follow the grain and blowout the side.

Yep they do.....he wanted to go back out for football his senior year. This kid studied football since he was ten years old. I told him it was his discession but If he got hurt and couldn't play basketball how was he gonna feel....his track record wasn't good. He was a awesome point guard. And he played awesome when he was mad. I told him I'd support him either way... Was totally his discession.
I taught him to shoot to shoot left handed at a early age. The crowd would taught him and he'd go left just to piss them off.
He'd lose a game to make sure everyone got a chance.
He's still got a big ol' heart. -
The one we're remodeling has the ship lap siding, like the floors, in not very good shape from what I've uncovered so far. That has machine grooved wood (cedar) over it. And last but not least, 12" masonite lap siding over that. There was no insulation in the walls, not even a pile at the bottom where it had disintegrated over the years. We did find late 20's to early 30's newspapers, cardboard pieces and feed sacks stapled to the inside of the walls for insulation. All of the walls are 2 x 6, except for the living room and front bedroom which are 2 x 4.
It's been an adventure remodeling this one. I'm trying to get pictures put on a photo site so everybody that wants to can see the progress.4mer trucker, Hurricane69, cke and 3 others Thank this. -
We got in the attic and there were records from when the local town was incorporated and hyhm books. Started pulling up insulation and found a bayonet with a swastika on it.. We bought this place off the origally family that got it after the war through a government program.
There were also hooks and rope where the previous renter dried his weed.sawmill, 4mer trucker, 1951 ford and 5 others Thank this. -
That's cool!
I'm going back over to his house tomorrow to help him so I'll take some more pictures. He's got some inside walls apart and they look just like your house in that one pic you sent showing the kitchen floor. No insulation whatsoever.
He's going to work on the house a little bit each year, but is trying to finish the bathroom and laundry room as they are expecting their first child sometime in February.4mer trucker, 1951 ford, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
There’s some history there
