He did not say what he failed his test on not that it really matters. However I don't think there are any of us who have been at this for very long that have not made some stupid mistakes along the way. I know I have. I've never been especially good at following the rules and perhaps that's why trucking appealed to me years ago. Personally I don't have a problem with anyone and pot as long as it's not on while they are away from home on the truck. What you do on your off time is your business. However I have seen many drivers, myself included (when I was young and dumb) that did not allow enough time for their poison of choice to be flushed from their system. Pot and some of the other drugs are different as they accumulate in fat and it takes a long time for it to dissipate unlike alcohol which was my poison back in the day. Fortunately I grew up and decided I loved trucking more than anything else and stopped drinking about 25 yrs ago. Times they are a changing and I fear not always for the best

I am sober 30 years or so. I liked my drinks, Schnapps generally. Keep in mind in those days of Class A before there was ever a CDL as of 1991, drinking and driving in moderation on bad roads was common to me provided I paced myself to get through the 200 miles or whatever of bad road. No air ride nothing in those days. Trainers actually taught me how to drink and drive and so I did.
Most people probably would be aghast at such a thought these days, but times have changed and words are inadequate to show what America was back then compared to today. We were free to put whatever we wanted into our bodies PROVIDED we are half way decent and can drive come morning. Or even go to work at a factory etc. and not lose your arm or cut someone in half... I never dreamed the factories will go overseas the way they did.
I still like my drinks. But those are really rare compared to back then. I think the good lord provided us all with a certain amount of gifts in this green earth for us to enjoy provided it's in moderation.
However. Drug tests and so forth these days have gotten really sensitive. And they can tell alot with the new ones today. So, every time someone cry out that they failed a test and then failed to disclose details of possibly how it got to a failed test, I have to discard that.Steel Dragon and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
didn't you go to truck driver school in like 1989?Steel Dragon and G13Tomcat Thank this.

If you think riding around in a 100,000 dollar vehicle and traveling the country is the same as a jail cell, you've NEVER been in a real jail cell.kemosabi49 Thanks this.

30 years ago I could have rolled up an ounce and started smoking at the start of my shift, until the very end.
I think if I took one puff right now, I'd probably not get the truck out of the parking spot intact.BigBob410 and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
I'm beginning to think you've been trolled.
