Sooo.... I am waiting to get bent over here at CRE? Read ALOT about how horrible it is, and also read the same stuff about EVERY other company out there... Seems to me "from the people on the forums" point of view is they ALL ARE RIPOFFS.

So with that in mind, how can one "pick" which major company to start at if they all suck?

I read the reviews, BBB reports, rip-off reports, etc... and from 7 months of calculations I seem to see MORE bad crap about england than most others, but at the same time, I see MORE england (or ex-england) people online than the others so if only 10% of all the other companies disgrunted/ex-employees are online, and 50% on england drivers are online, it's hard to make a judgement call.

1 bad comment out of 10
100 bad comments out of 1000

    which percentage is better?

So, I went with England from talking with many people and other companies.

1 Comment in this thread about the number of people per training truck or some crap, THIS IS TRUE, but as a idiot never been behind the wheel, got my CDL and can say I have LEARNED ALOT. (CDL as of Nov.17)

ALOT of people didn't make out of my class, but it was the hidden criminals, bad driving records and the infamous drug test that killed them pretty much.

Just makes no sense, if trucking is so bad, why are you a trucker?

I plan on taking home $500 a month for the first year (yea, I know thats LOW) but for a newb, it's a reasonable expection that I can count on, and prepared for the sacrafice.

I hope to come back in 6months and post great stuff, and again at 1yr, etc...

I've came to the conclusion that ALL COMPANIES will bend you over any chance they get, trucking or not, I just think think that the stories here about these companies are being pushed more from PERSONAL OPINIONS/SITUATIONS than whats there..

Talked to MANY 10-15yr drivers who wouldn't leave unless killed and many that can't wait to be killed so then get out!

I read it all, and still went in with England, and have my goals set (reasonable) and a POSITIVE attitude and have not a complaint yet .. :)

    Welcome to the forums, DooRagg.

I hope you'll continue to post your experiences with C.R. England to inform us how things are going for you. And I hope you'll find things to your liking.
We've read many posts from hopefuls who sound just like you, but their story either changes, or we never hear from them again. It would be refreshing to read a success story for a change. :yes2557:

Good luck & best of success.

Well, you've got the right attitude DooRagg setting low expectations. You're right about almost all the starter companies being complete suck. You need to put a year in somewhere and move on to greener pastures.

I went through the CRE mill in 2000, though, it was as bad as everyone says here. I wonder if you've checked into the barracks yet, or maybe you're lucky and did your schooling elsewhere. Just hope you don't get the lesbian trainer who goes by the handle of "crybaby." Believe me, I would have refused to go on the truck with her but I had been waiting for a trainer for days.

It only lasted two days. She threw me off the truck for stepping on her sleeping bag. She literally began throwing my belongings out of the truck on a fuel island. The only thing that kept me from getting fired was I requested the video from the truck stop monitors if proof was needed. To their credit, after that CRE put me on plane to California to meet up with another trainer which worked out okay.

Once I was solo I stayed for six months but got tired of fighting with my dispatcher and safety over hours of service. Dispatcher says one thing, safety another etc. Usual big company b.s. After that went through more crap with USxpress and JB Hunt before landing with a quality small company. From my early experiences, I never thought trucking could be like it is where I am now.

Well I have posted good and bad about our experience with CR England. We tried to stay positive and stick it out but now that the magical year is finally here my husband is moving on. We have spent this week filling out apps for smaller companies and other large companies that he has talked to the drivers of and thought the company was worth looking in to.
I do believe the experience we have had would have been the same no matter where he started. All the big companies suck. I do think that is the truth.
The final nail in the coffin in our case is the fact that this past week payroll is trying to NOT pay him for 2 trips. Now keep in mind this is one of those many crappy weeks where he has only been given 2000 miles. He is only getting paid for 600. Now since he is an IC he needs between 1900 and 2100 to break even. The past 8 weeks he has been paying them to work it seems. We figure even if he gets on with another company that gives him crappy miles at least he won't a negative settlement. It sucks for him to be gone all the time and still not have enough money to do a thanksgiving dinner or the fact that we do not have 1 single xmas item bought yet. I am just glad my kids are old enough to understand, even if they are still young enough to cry about it. They get that xmas is about family time and not about gifts, but they still want the gifts!! This is the worst year we have ever had financially and I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone. I do get some peace in knowing that it is not just us. The entire USA is struggling and I do figure that in to our problems and the lack of miles. It still sucks and he still needs out of the #### lease.
Anyway, I am just rambling now. I will keep you posted on how it goes when he turns in his truck and how bad they screw him on his maintenance account. Hoping he can turn it in at Burns Harbor and not Salt Lake terminal.
Wish us luck, we need all the help we can get right now!!

What I can't understand is the countless warnings and yet people still flock to this place. Either they say they are all bad got to start somewhere or they say well; I have read all the bad, but it will be better for me..... They go and then they fall of the earth.......... Hello where did you go???:biggrin_2554:

Yes they pay detention. I believe after 2 hours from apt. time it is 26 dollars per hour and max. of $260 per day. I am sure of the amount just not sure of the 2hours. They also pay layover pay but it is only around $45 per day, which I think is ridiculous!

ALOT of people didn't make out of my class, but it was the hidden criminals, bad driving records and the infamous drug test that killed them pretty much.

And why do you think that CRE attracts these type of individuals? Surely not because they are a good company for a good experienced driver to work at.

I plan on taking home $500 a month for the first year (yea, I know thats LOW) but for a newb, it's a reasonable expection that I can count on, and prepared for the sacrafice.

$500 a week or month? If it is 500 a month and you think it is reasonable for even a new driver to make that, then my friend you are the problem with OTR trucking , not the solution.

You got lazy and settled for CRE and now you are trying to justify your lack of effort by stating that everyone is just a bunch of whiners so it matters not where I go to drive.

We have heard it all before, but you should of concentrated on the posts from drivers who thought like you after being warned and came back later with their tails between their legs for doubting the legitimacy of the posts.

I just think think that the stories here about these companies are being pushed more from PERSONAL OPINIONS/SITUATIONS than whats there..

How many people have to scream fire before you get out of a burning building?

Your expectations are so low that you will probably do ok at CRE as just another driver happy to have a job. Good Luck!
