Ok so I come into Virginia via i64, I was 14ft tall, 10ft 11in wide. Below is the routing I had gotten coming from Cincinnati. Pretty cut and dry in my opinion.

My outbound load is being permitted for 10 wide, legal length and height. But the routing they gave me going from Covesville Va to Dayton ohio. One would think the routing would be similar right? Not a freaking chance...

Now I have to ask myself, why in the world would Virginia route me that way? It adds an extra layer of difficulty that isn't needed.

The first rule of pulling permitted loads is throw expectations out the window. I have found routes rarely make sense. It keeps it interesting. Wait until you get a Arkansas permit. I will post a picture in a min.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
A superload permit in Arkansas. Legal weight and 19'6" wide. Luckily we almost always get this same route.
Us-70, us-71, us-278, us-425, us-82.
The first picture is is the route across 278. We don't leave 278 for 170 miles.
The second picture shows Arkansas's description of that route. The list every night that runs concurrent with the one you're routed on and about half the the ones you simply cross. In between the pink dots all us 278.

I can understand things change, but in this instance I wanna ask my companies permit office "what in hell are you thinking?"
I mean seriously, she's the same one who got my routing into Virginia, it would make sense of she got my routing the same way outx1Heavy Thanks this. -
Same permit says daylight movement only then later says 9am-3pm only.
The last line says 2 escorts (front and rear) which to them means 4 total escorts. Some time they clarify that in a comment section. It just depend on who issues the permit.
Notice the difference between the two different permits. Same dimensions but two weeks apart.

So I'm assuming you get your permits through a permit company that orders them from each state?Last edited: Nov 14, 2017
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
No we have a permit department. Two permit agents and one Superviser. The supervisor pulls certain high profile loads and all the super loads. She is Great at her job but can only do so much. Like Arkansas won't let super loads on the interstate. We asked a few times and they reminded us that if we are not delivering into the state of Arkansas, they don't have to give us a permit at all...
We do use a permit service for the few states that won't let us order direct.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Construction scheduled to start during the window of your permit.
I've asked for a single day or 2 days for permit to avoid some construction detours.
Depends on the state.
Also eb64 and we64 are two separate roads with different bridge clearances.
Good luck -
I'll be legal height coming back so the bridge clearances isn't an issue. Guess you missed that in my original postx1Heavy Thanks this.

No didn't miss it. I was just making a comment. A bridge may have construction under it. Not allowing clearance. Paint crew. Forms hanging under bridge for concrete.
