How hard is it to replace the injectors on a 3406e cat? Im pretty mechanically inclined so i dont think thats a issue. Looking for some real world advice.

probably the easiest thing to do opening up the motor......I'm Learning myself to finally work INSIDE the motor- CAT suggests to replace the Cups also(cheap) when doing injectors.....Run an overhead and your done
-
Just had overhead ran and found out i have low hp injectors in my motor. So i ordered some 55's and was thinking about installing them myself. Looks straight forward but wanted some insite.
stayinback Thanks this. -
You need a height gauge to set the injectors. Over head is an easy procedure. I can't remember the height gauge part number but any CAT dealer will know what your talking about. Be sure that the injectors seat by hand, don't pull them down with the hold down clamp.
If you want the sequence and torque specs I can post them but it's easy to findOxbow, snowman_w900, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
OK i was hoping it was a swap and go procedure. Well i guess ill just wait for my appointment after thanksgiving.wore out Thanks this.

Which injectors are you calling low hp? 57's?
-
Mine now are 56’s. Rated up to 375hp

You need to make a list of the new trim codes, unless your running 5232 or the 6 what ever it is codes.
-
55's are 3 sizes bigger. What turbo do you plan to run with them?
-
Cups are a Cat shop scam. They're stainless, I don't know how you would ever hurt one. For the last 10 yrs I,ve just changed the o-rings and put them back in.
