The techs at penske seems completely baffled by the dt12. they spend five hours trying to turn it up 2 mph and never got it done. I think I have to insist to go to freightliner with it. thank you for your comments. They are very helpful.

Can freightliner sell the dt12 without the Intelligent Powertrain Management?

You need to have professional version of Diagnostic Link to change the parameters in the ICUC. So yes, take it to an FTL dealer.

Yes, it's not required to have IPM w/DT12.

    zenaddler Thanks this.

An update the truck has 13000 plus miles and still pulls bad on cc. The truck cant really handle it when I gross over 76,000. Penske says they are going to give me another truck and keep this one until it is fixed.I am not holding my breath.

I have an '18 old body style Cascadia with a DD15 and manual transmission. Mine did the same thing with the cruise being laggy on the hills, and not staying exactly where I set the cruise at. Hooked up the laptop and there's a "soft cruise" parameter. I just set the values to zero and disabled it. Now when I set the cruise to 75, it stays at 75. Hope that helps.

I just noticed your reply. Thanks. My truck went in the shop on Dec 4th. It has been at freightliner all this time. I took a loaded trailer over and drove it for them with a load. They had their laptop hooked up and the tech said the truck didnt work correctly. They then sent the parameters to Detroit engineers. They now are saying it is supposed to work like it does. Pretty much a joke. The trucks (2) wont pull and dont run a steady speed. The eco coast is a bad joke. They get poor fuel mileage on CC. I will be very amused if your suggestion works on my truck also. My boss has two more of these trucks on order for delivery in april.

It is now Feb 28 2018. Freightliner has not fixed the truck. They gave my boss a line about how it was repaired and I went through the trouble of moving into only to find it exactly like it was. It wont hold a speed on cruise. It shifts into overdrive at 53 mph even with a load on a hill it cant pull. It wont downshift until it reaches 950 rpm no matter what in 11 and 12. With a load it will skip 2 gears so it will take off in 3 and skip to 7th when you are doing an uphill corner. It will slow down a lot on an overpass empty or loaded. It will go into e coast when pulling an empty flatbed going down an overpass and slow down 3 to 5 mph. I will go into ecoast going down a hill and stay in ecoast until it slows at least 2 mph below the set cruise speed. It then will start up the hill at a slow speed with no momentum. Supposedly they have a vp from Detroit motors and a vp from Freightliner working on it. I would say dont buy a DD 15 with DT 12 unless the transmission is the top of the line. the eco model doesnt work. This truck doesnt work correctly when driving it bobtail.
