I made it home to Okc. My flight landed a little after 9pm. I called Florida this morning and was given an EFS authorization for the personal expenses I incurred this week. I will go out the Flying J later and cash the check. Clovis has a truck waiting on me to use too.
As far as the property left in my truck at Birmingham, I called the IRT driver who repowered my load last Monday because I remembered him telling me he lived in Birmingham. He’s going to go by there and box up the valuables and ship them home for me, then get me a mailing address so I can send him some money for his troubles and shipping costs.
Florida and Clovis also told me if I need to get back over there personally they can arrange it once I’m in my spare truck. With the other IRT driver helping me out though, I won’t have to mess with getting to Birmingham and can stay closer to home for the holidays.
Feels good to be home after a month on the road. It will be beer thirty early this evening. Lolnextgentrucker, Vic Firth and Suspect Zero Thank this. -
Larry, did your Pete have a Cummins or a Paccar motor in it? Am curious because if Cummins, this would be the 2nd or 3rd Cummins I recently read about that did the exact same thing.
Glad you made it home and cudos to the Birmingham driver for taking care of your things.Tanker_82 Thanks this. -
Cummins 450hp ISX15.
Had 351,000 miles on it. Truck was a 2015 model.88 Alpha Thanks this. -
Drove my pickup 356 miles to Clovis to move into a different truck. Spent $60 on fuel and $55 on new bedding along the way (mine got left in Alabama). I got to Clovis, drove 6 miles down the road from the terminal and the stop engine light started flashing in that truck too. I was so irritated after what happened earlier this week and then this, I took the truck back to the yard, got back in my pickup, and drove 356 miles right back home.
nextgentrucker Thanks this. -

I can't say as I blame you. It is very frustrating when your truck goes down. It makes it even worse when the loaner truck your company gives you has issues also.
Best of luck getting it all worked out right here on top of Thanksgiving.nextgentrucker and Tanker_82 Thank this.
