This is just my opinion but no person with 37 years of experience should be at a mega carrier just starting with them. Does that make sense?

After 37 years of trucking an average driver will be so damaged in his body and mind so even without major issues with his driving records etc. he'll be lucky to drive somewhere without drooling on himself. Exceptions are few, I've met just 2 more or less intact 30+ career drivers, career trucking is extremely damaging to ones health and sanity I must say. But no matter what you think of yourself remember you can land at the bottom of employment pile in a blink of an eye regardless of your experience.
There is a simple formula of trucking wages
Trucker wage= Modest Base of 40k or so + no life bonus + health deterioration bonus + early grave bonus.
As a rule combined bonus is much smaller than the base, so effectively one has to have no life while slowly killing himself for the extra 10-20k on average.Oldironfan and Steel Dragon Thank this. -
I guess" good money" Is all relative honestly.
I have no house payment, no car payment. The only really bills I have Is the normal ones.
Cell phone,Electric, Water, etc.
Even with out my Military retirement. I could live off 25k a year still take a month off and vacation anywhere in world.
In my experience good money always comes when you're not trying to Chase it. And are relatively debt free ... OK I'll get off my dave Ramsey soap boxSteel Dragon, Dan.S and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
