By virtue of the fact that he is using that kind of test equipment, I would assume he probably tuned your radio to be pretty clean on the output side. I know of a lot of techs, and rarely do they use scopes and spectrum analyzers on cb equipment.

Shogun I guess that stands to reason why he always ask what mic is used. Never really give it much thought but tuning with the mic used makes a lot of sense. In the past had work done in a lot of shops and he is the first that ever ask me that.

Sounds like a defective mic. Both my Astatic and SRA do just fine on my General Lee, as well as my Cobras and Midland.

Most people don't know how to see splatter on a scope. It's actually much easier to see with a spectrum analyzer. Here's a nice entertaining demonstration.

It's never safe to make that assumption. There's a bunch of guys that don't have a clue what they're doing but they put on a pretty good theatrical presentation like this guy.
