i Might be the only non smoker that doesn’t care if the trainer smokes. Lol. Been around a lot of smoke working in bars/casinos.

The smell of smoke bothered me less before I started smoking than it does now since I've quit. Part of it is I just want to stay away from it so I'm not tempted to start smoking again. I've had new guys who didnt smoke back in the days when I did. So I just refrained from smoking in the truck. Now that I don't, I do ask smokers to refrain in the truck. But, I do stop frequently to compromise.

Ex-smokers (like me) can be some of the most self -righteous jerks out there. Like you, when I was a "trainer", I would try and accommodate the smokers I took along with me.

I will add this though, I was one of the few trainers who didn't smoke and was thus in high demand back at the mother ship ☺

The bigger the company the more likely you can request and get a non-smoking trainer. The smaller the company the chances increase you will have to wait for their ONLY non-smoking trainer to become available.

In all seriousness, I would rather put up with a clean, smoker who has good hygiene than a non smoker that smells like a Tijuana bathroom.

I know in the school they won't. I was concerned about company training after I get my CDL.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Most smokers have no clue they smell like a dirty ashtray. If someone crapped in the truck while driving NOBODY would think they problem disappears by cracking the window a quarter inch. Every smoker thinks that is a magic remedy.

A dirty ashtray still smells better than a Tijuana bathroom. Some people also just need to learn the meaning of the word compromise. Everybody these days seem hung up on "me". Training is only going to last a few weeks. Nothing wrong with thinking in terms of "we" for a little bit. In this industry, you'll get plenty of "me" time. More than you can handle sometimes.
