I am thinking about adding the HazMat endorsement to my CDL.
But some people say that with the HazMat any violations I get will double (even if I drive my car) because they take HazMat extremely serious.
And another people told me that this is not true and that it will only double the points if I get caught driving under the influence in a commercial vehicle.
Can anyone here help to clarify the picture? May be there is a source (website, books, DMV service) that can give a correct answer.
    Thank you

Stay away from the lunch counter at the Petro. What you do in your car has nothing to do with doubling points just cause you hav hazmat.

The penalties might be stiffer ONLY IF you have a hazmat load. I got a ticket being overweight on a non-hazmat load, not one word was said about hazmat and only got the standard points.

Get your hazmat, it makes you more marketable and when you are attached to a hazmat load dont do anything that can get you in trouble with the popo.

Shouldn't anyways, but be extra cautious with hazmat.

California used to have a different point system if you had a hazmat endorsement.

like someone else said, stay away from the lunch counter, but i will add, AT ANY truck stop.

    find a booth, eat alone.

that being said, the only thing about driving your personal vehicle is, that IF you get ANY ticket, (you won't get any hazmat fines doubled, tripled, etc) but that ticket you got/get driving YOUR CAR, still DOES GO onto your driving record.

then YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT ticket, any time you go for a new job, as it'll be where..????

    on your driving record.

truck stop counters have some of the greatest, BS artist's, doctors, lawyers, giving free advice to all those that present themselves as rookies, newbies, etc.

    stay away, stay sane.
