A question for the truck gods. I have a 2005 pete with 545,000 I have a vibration under heavy torque. New clutch, flywheel surfaced, new ujoints, new shocks, new carrier bearing, had truck lined up, Bought a wheel alignment tool, had the front wheels spun balanced on the truck, and ten new tires, replaced acouple wheel bearings, and checked all wheel bearings. Any input appreciated...

Check your drive line angles. Ride height will change your drive line angle and cause a very bad vibration. Had a customer that replaced the clutch, transmission, remove and check both again to find nothing, roadtested it with him and it would take the shifter out of your hand a 55 mph. I dropped his rear air valve one inch, vibration moved up th 65 mph. dropped it another 1/2 inch, vibraton gone.

DDS I forgot to list that had it set by local driveline shop, 2.6 with a digital Meter, also had the driveshafts checked, only .014 runout

How long have you had the vibration. Do you have diff temp gauges and are they high. Had a truck come from the factory with the front diff a 3.55 and the rear 3.70. It got about 150 000 kms on a front diff before failure. After the front diff failed twice the dealer caught the mistake and repaired under warranty.

Had the back rear replaced at 150,xxx. Vibration started about 6 months ago. Just a money pit ever since. What do you think about the front balancer?

Are you talking about the damper on the front of the engine? Most will hear a front drive gear noise before you would feel a vibration. Did you have the flywheel machined, what happened to cause the vibration. Not to scare you but have had broken crankshafts very hard to diagnose. Had one that the dyno operator replaced a set of injectors before he found the crankshaft broken. is your front or rear seal leaking at all?

Also, have you had the top end set? the intake actuators can cause a vibration.

Yes the damper on the front, I had the flywheel surfaced when the new clutch was installed. No oil leaks. It has been about 150,xxx since the top was run. The vibration started out not that noticable, but got worse over time.. I guess it could be the crank, you know how the cat cranks are, and I do use the power box a good bit, living in the north east, but usually only on level 1, or 2 and 5 if someone is trying to pass!! LOL..

On XM radio awhile back TMC tech talk was talking about vibrations in a pete. Maybe you can find some archives on that.

When did this vibration start, right after you put the new clutch in? Did you have the driveshafts balanced?

    Any tires wearing funny?

If it was the dampner wouldn't he start breaking flywheel bolts?
