so a guy gets held up and makes it an hour from terminal and thats "piss poor planning" according to you.
but taking a 10 hour break 5 hours into the day, "just in case" is smart. got it. LOL! i bet there is a long line of guys that would love to have you for a dispatcher.
if that is how you would do it on paper...i can see why you love elogs so much cuz that plan is some real stupid right there.

Question, am I to assume that he is leaving his terminal on the way to BG at 3:30 AM? Just want to make sure I am understanding his day before I put any math into it.
-
-
No, he SAID he left his yard at 3:30, I don't know whether that is am or pm, logic would dictate am but I just wanted to be sure, and does that mean his "clock" started at 3:00 since he had to do a PT and/or hook up trailer, get pw, etc.
-
he said 03:30 to be specific and that would indicate AM.
KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
Taking the nap was beyond stupid.
He knew he was taking a 10 hour break once he got back to the terminal or enroute back there.
Why take the nap????
With paper logs, sure take the nap and redo the whole page.
But why nap on elogs with the break coming up? -
Ok, biggest issue I see is that his dispatcher is an idiot, 652 miles round trip is not a deal breaker in my book, but to follow that up with a deadline at 2pm the next day 500 plus miles away is just asking for trouble.
First off, in order to make the BG leg in 5 hrs he is AVERAGING over 65mph, my trucks will run 70, I figure a 60mph average is good, secondly, Atlanta is ALWAYS a crap shoot, to figure getting in there with no issues on top of having a "perfect" run back and forth from BG Back to Back is asking a bit much.
Exactly what I mean when I say there are too many people running at 10/10ths all the time, no room for error. -
Not sure I am understanding what difference a "nap" makes on Elogs, makes no difference whether he would have logged sleeper or off duty or on duty, he was still going to be bucking his 14 either way.
-
Because he said he napped while he was delayed for 4 hours in Bowling Green, then later when he took his 10 hour break he was wide awake and couldn’t sleep.
And he blamed not being able to sleep on his 10 hour break on elogs.
I blame it on him for nappingKANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
Gotcha, I was equating it to a logging issue not a sleeping issue!
