he doesn't have ability to see in the future and know how long he's gonna be there.

if you guys think doing a days work one day, then a days work the next is just too risky, then that just makes the case why people really don't want elogs.

the only thing unsafe about doing the above...is nothing at all. the only thing "wrong" is it's simply illegal due to an idiotic HOS rule, and ELOGS that record everything.

Ok, so I went ahead and e-logged it.

Using 8/2 split, he would still get the load to Atlanta by 14:00

I would have done exactly what he did, except I would have told my dispatcher he is a dumb ### for running things so close together, NOW that dispatcher has a REAL understanding of how things are suppose to work rather than EXPECTING his drivers to run over hours fudging log books and sticking their necks out while he looks the other way, hopefully he learned something.

This is EXACTLY why ELDs had to happen, because nothing was EVER going to get better, now at least there is a chance of dispatchers and companies taking real responsibility for the situations they put their drivers in.

I would bet his company may not have the split logging option set up?

no...guys are just gonna make less money because now they're gonna be going home because if they "risk" it they might have to shut down 30 minutes from delivery.

welcome to the 6-5-6 hour work day. take home pay will be affected.

Not what I'm seeing, he logged it just as the OP said, 5hrs to BG then 4 hrs off then 4 hrs to end of 14 in Cattlesburg, next day he gets up with 8 hrs in the bunk and drives 1 hr to terminal shows time off for turn around and drives 6 hrs then finishes split bunk with 2 off and ends up in Atlanta.
