I don’t think anyone wonders. It’s known why trucking has a bad rep.tscottme Thanks this.

If that were true I would not have a CDL. California demands a lot but that isn’t one of the demands.bottomdumpin Thanks this.

There are some decent companies out there that will pay for your CDL and even provide a motel and food while you are there learning. In exchange for that, you agree to work for them for a certain amount of time (the common length seems to be about a year for most of them from what I have seen).
Most of these companies pay weekly. So once you pass your tests and start driving, you'll see some income pretty quick. -
Trying to steer clear of swift, but they pay for training and are 3 blocks away, should I go with them or go to a school like southwest?
-
What’s so bad about swift? The reviews? If you work hard, and prove yourself you can earn a living there. Plenty of guys do

I'm a nomad too seeking a truck driver career.

The state of apathy.

Kansas is pretty easy and lots of jobs.

New Hampshire may be the worst. Drivers told me how they had to do 2 figure eights in reverse. Trailers are aligned for going forward, in reverse they will wander.
