Tell the FMCSA that.

Who told you -50 is no big deal & who is perverting what others say? I said you are in a heated truck. You use that truck to drive to customers. Why you need to dress for being outside in -50 for hours while you drive is my question. Driving & sleeping is what you will be doing for 20 plus hours each day. If you dress for -50 & your trainer is dressed for +70 you will be sweating while you stare at tje road.
If your truck breaks down you make a phone call and stay in the truck. Not even dispatchers expect or need you to walk home. I know women seem to think they must dress so as to never feel a moment of cold during winter, but maybe that's why there are so few in trucking. It's not Ice Road Truckers out here. I don't even count how many loads I pull. I just pull the next load when tjey give it to me. -
It’s called recap. You perpetually drive each day. It’s quite common.
Lepton1, tscottme and WesternPlains Thank this. -
Yeah, you MOST DEFINITELY pontificate!!!

Oh gee! You've crushed me! I'm dreaming of pulling off a two lane road in Kansas. Cutting off wheat grass from some farmers field. Sitting on the front of the flatbed, with my super duper juicer. Making wheat grass juice. All the while, 18 wheelers honking their horns, driving by. Because I didn't pull far off the road. My yelling at them, daring them to run into me: "I got me a stinking tank on here... I dare you to hit me! My trainer struggling with his strapping to the back of the cab. Trying to scream through his muzzle.

You can drive just under 9 hrs per day and never get a day off indefinitely. Even the FMCSA knows that. You may think that means lounging around the balance of 24 hours per day. The people that are doing that are trying to tell you otherwise. Uou can spend endless hours per day/week waiting at customers. Never knowing if you will be waiting 15 minutes or 14 hours until they say "leave".
Despite what TV &movies show most of us don't have time for tourism or solving crimes while in trucking. Most of us arent even delivering one last load of secret missile parts to pay for our family farm payoff. You drive, you sleep, you wait. If you're lucky you might know how long you'll do one of them after you start doing it.J Man, CrappieJunkie, IluvCATS and 3 others Thank this. -
Yes.... Along with a daily 15 hour reset. Not 10. Ask the FMCSA.

You’ll survive living like a toxic Roman heathen for a couple weeks. Trucks are probably healthier than ancient Roman hovels anyway. No need to be so dramatic.morpheus, J Man, CrappieJunkie and 3 others Thank this.

You are not given a week of dispatches at once. You get told to do 1 trip, and infer what schedule that demands. Sometimes you MIGHT know what you will do after that load before the current load ends. Or you could sit for hours or days not knowing when you'll be told you are late for the new load. EVERY newbie thinks there will be hours of free-time available to do other things. You'll see if that happens. What do we know, our minds are full of toxins & unfiltered water.ClassB, J Man, IluvCATS and 1 other person Thank this.
