Mostly up in north jersey a pipe company who has a contract with now Suez water. If you have apportioned plates running from jersey to staten island for a certain concrete company will pay $8.50 a ton. Usually uses only owner operators and keeps them going for most of the year. Hauling dirty dirt will get you $9 a ton but the hassle trucking it out of state isn't worth it. Penn or NY sees your tarp out and drop down with NJ plates your def getting weighed. Sure some guys are getting 70-75 an hour but there's guys who pay a lot more for good reliable trucks.

Pipe contractor working public work "Suez Water" is prevailing wage, which in there bid they get $200.00 plus per hour and will tell the sub contracting truckers you only have to pay the drivers rate on the average time on the job "15 minutes" of a full hour but isn't true, NJ dept of labor can audit a sub contractor and is liable to pay the full rate.
Of course you are going to get pulled over loaded with NJ tags, NJ isn't a Federal compliant state, they know you are overweight.
That is why NJDOT State Troopers are axle weighing Tri Axle dump trucks and issuing over weight axle tickets, they want NJ to be federally compliant because the state looses federal highway funding by not being compliant.
How many loads a day crossing the border at 8-9 dollars per ton? -
What city are you in?

My rates are 85 dollars per hour. We don’t do tonnage here. Well some trucking companies pay their drivers tonnage. Plus I get half hour travel. This is south east pa where construction is booming and quarries everywhere. If you on highway jobs it is 95 to 100 an hour
Also, 6 hour minimum. You can work as many as hours as you want if you are willing to work. I’m lazy. Winter time gets a little slow but come spring you can work double shift if you want.Last edited: Nov 25, 2017
