EXACTLY! If you can't make a living driving 11 hours a day, find a new job. Its the 14 hours that kill our ability to earn. Especially doing specialized work like oversize, or cattle, etc... Why would you rather fight for the right to cheat (paper logs) than fight for the right to run LEGALLY (11 hours with no 14 hour rule)?
The day keeps getting closer

Lol my outlaw pals are still scrambling to find a way around eld....instead of going to they're customers to make scheduling adjustments ..duh lol
ZVar Thanks this. -
The paper logs have been so in demand because they made it possible not to follow any HOS at all. It did not necessarily equal to being irresponsible. I think, that new category (in the making) of ELDs rebels might come up with something. The closer the day gets, the more ideas develop. I guess, for many, it is not as much as not to follow HOS as getting sheer satisfaction of having the last laugh. A laugh and a middle finger to ELD lovers faces.

I'll be using the AOBRD option for the next 2 years. A little more flexibility than the straight ELD.

Is AOBRD a delicate form of cheating? -

I'll be honest with you, since I only run 2,000 to 2,2250 miles a week, an ELD is really not that big of a deal. The only thing it really changes is that it will force me to run (at times) that extra couple of hours to get close to the shipper/receiver so I don't have to start the 14 hour clock in the morning. Plenty of eloggers cheat all the time. Having trained on and run elogs as a company guy, I know that is a FACT.

Why do people like the idea of being on call 24/7 for FREE ? My time has value and it not unlimited. If they can't load or unload the truck in reasonable time, they should pay for our time, use the 14 rule against them.
Who wants to sit for free, then drive all night trying to make up for the free time you let then take from you. Now with ELDs if a company or driver wants to sit for FREE go ahead. You don't get to drive all hours you want to make up for your choice, to sit for free.
If a company or driver makes enough money to sit for free with the HOS more power to them. If they don't make enough money they may need to charge more per mile or detention pay or something. I don't understand drivers wanting sit for free.Last edited: Nov 25, 2017
