Now my experience with FedEx ground... because we have done dedicated runs for FedEx and regular runs that where not part of a dedicated route... (Schneider and Covenant) be prepared to be issued a load with a pickup time of 6am but not be ready till sometime around 10am. It may be different if you are a FedEx driver for FedEx... but I have seen a lot of FedEx guys waiting on loads. With Covenant our very first run with the trainer was a FedEx load... it was suppose to be ready at 3am. We showed up on time... but load was not ready till 7. Talk about waisting a 14 hour clock... that gets old real quick... and they usually have very tight delivery times.

If you have these concerns about teaming... DONT DO IT, unless you have a friend that you know willing to go with you to a company... even then in your situation with how you already feel towards teaming... I would say... don’t do it. It does take a lot of trust plus sleeping while the truck is moving... is not easy.

Try to talk to estenson drivers and see how the run to SLC is done.

It's tough to do 2 runs driving L.A. to SLC. Unless the trailers are preloaded and all you gotta do is drop and hook. And you leave after 10 pm and arrive before 4am. And avoid all the construction. I don't see anyway you'll be doing 3. And fitting a 34.

The traffic in L.A. likes to eat your hours for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I live in SLC. I spent the better part of my last 3 otr years flatbedding to California. And 6 months prior hauling bio fuel to a customer in L.A.. I hauled the fuel in at night though. When you all were in bed. Most of my loads came from Tremonton though. So, if you're just going to SLC. That'll save you 90 minutes one way over MY drive. Basically you save 6 hours on 2 trips. From what i had to drive.

There is a yea buddy trust and there is your ### is in the bunk trust in a moving truck.

There isnt too many people I have allowed to run that tractor trailer with me in the back asleep, in fact the first few weeks is spent evaluating that person's behavior with the rig (Brake applications, right hand rumble time and oversteering along with the shifting...) I don't really sleep a while. Wife was the worst, but once broken in she got pretty good. I ask her to do things or go here or there and be there by a set time. And we were usually there. lol.

Teaming is also a special kind of intensity. You will be crossing the Nation twice each week in the right loads sometimes. Some people cannot handle that long term.

A very long time ago between Baltimore and roughly DC, there used to be a truly major Fed Ex facility. They were large enough to take up three interchange ramps with the highway passing through there.

You learned to be past there by 4:15 am. If you were somehow late getting up and made it to where they were at about 5 am, you will find yourself surrounded by fedex trucks of all sizes pouring out like school kids let out for the day. It's crazy messing with that situation.

To this day I cannot exactly recall which facility that was, even now it's probably still there. Surrounded by Amazon and the like.

what ever, both schneider and fedex ground are not appealing to me. both of them had major cons. 3 other companies contacting me are looking more appealing.
