I think Sportster is a Cummins Insider
He could be a tough nut to crack... JK.
Would be cool to see some big HP Cummins talk, other than those souped up BCs and NTCs that Diesel Injection of Pgh has built.

Ohhhhh,a Cummins insider, huh? That opens up all kinds of possibilites.
Why don't they make their engines a little more tunable, that would make em worth a lot more, look at the Cats, everybody wants one and they're not even making em anymore.
-
Timing is controlled by volume of fuel? So,if you increase fuel volume the timing changes?
-
I think maybe he means pressure. Like a common rail or something

The Industrial group had/has the 685 hp rating. The 788hp rating was to see what would fail at that horsepower. I think that engine ran just over one year straight 24/7 at 1800 rpm before something failed.
The 650hp cal should be available at any distributorship if you can get them to load it onto a truck. That is a big if because it is meant for the high dollar RVs which do not meet emissions. So if you could sweet talk someone at a distributorship you might, big might, be able to get it.
They do not let me have access to computers to change all this stuff. I guess that they are afraid I might give myself to much power in the truck.
I was swapping stories with a fellow employee and he was telling me that before the Sig was introduced they had feild test units running in CO. These trucks were in a fuel hauling fleet. When they were testing them they would tune them a little on the hot side. He told me that they were running up the hill west bound on I-70 coming out of denver at 60 mph loaded. He was telling me this as I was running up that same hill at a measley 34mph. -
About how much HP do you figure they were putting out to climb that hill that fast?
-
The 788hp rating, thats the one I'm after.Something that GOES.Can you get bigger injectors for a Sig 600,or do I need to get them punched out?
-
I honestly have no idea at all.
I was able to drive the 685hp truck. It was a nice pete 379. That truck was what I actually learned to drive with. When you went from low range to high range and gave it to much throttle you could break the tires lose with a loaded trailer behing you. The 788hp has never made it into a truck. The highest rating that I know of in a truck that we have right now is 650hp.
I really don't know about the injectors on the Sig. I can not get them if they are avaliable.
I really don't get to "play" with these trucks as far as making more power. I change what I am told to and modify bolt on parts for the cause of the every vauleable data. -
Tell em to start making a boat engine so we have some good parts to swap around
-
They do make marine engines.
Here is a link of a boat with cummins marine engines in it.

These engines are usually small displacement, low weight, high horsepower.
