I've burnt out 3 fan speed switches and I don't know why. When the fan is on high, and high only, the switch gets very hot and burns out in about a week. I've changed the resistors, changed the blower motor, and gave it a new, good solid ground with heavier gauge wire, but it still get incredibly hot. Any Ideas?

When you put the fan blade on new fan motor did it rub on inside plastic housing, may have to remove fan and ck. for rub on fan blade hub?

Could the wiring at the switch be bad from being previously overheated? High resistance can generate heat and transfer to the switch.

When the 3 speed switch gets hot the motor is usually the culprit. Buy a switch, the short pigtail for the switch, a resistor, and the motor. Put all four parts in and you should be good to go.
