It's good to do research. I'm an experienced TMC driver and I enjoy working here. I'll give you a few quick points to consider. ( I could go on for ever)
First, your wife and kids do to need understand that trucking is not a M-F 9 - 5 job. It is a M-F business though. Very few pick up's or deliveries on weekends. 34 hours off for your reset is all that is required. You learn more about that in school.
Second, where you live has a lot to do with what type of loads you haul, where you haul them, how much they pay, and when you get home. Friday or Saturday morning. For example, I live in the northeast, but I do not run there so I get home on Saturday mornings usually and leave Sunday nights. We haul finished goods to the NE, but little freight, besides lumber, out of the NE markets.
Third, We pick up at major factories/plants and take them to big cities and little out of the way towns. You will see what a beautiful country we live in and how big it really is.
Fourth, you will never make tons of money as a driver anywhere. 55K-70K is normal for the industry. However, your effort will determine how much you make. TMC will show you how, but you have to do the work.
Lastly, holidays are nice, but that means you're not running. When you aren't running, you're not making money.RussianBearTruckeR Thanks this. -
Is that all you get at tmc 34hours off?
Is that what they call weekends off? Lol -
Your last post tells me for sure that you need to look for work elsewhere.
Spesiel Thanks this.
