Holland hired me as a part time dock worker about 5 months ago and haven't called me in to work yet. I believe I'm on the pay roll because I get mailings ever now and then. They were to pay me 14 an hour and work 4 hours a day and was to start right away. What's up with this?

Have you contacted them? You don't sound like you are employed to me.
Y would you not call them? Don't be afraid of asking what's up.

I have talked to them several times. Always get a different answer. I didn't know if this was just filling a union obligation or what. This isn't a union position. They rushed me through the process to get me started, so I thought, but once all the tests and paper work was done it all changed. They said they were slow and put me on call.

Thats because in Louiseville they have city guys on layoff. If they are full time on layoff they must get called in before a casual.

I was just hired by them a few days ago, I start tomorrow. I gladly accepted the offer of employment, I didn't even ask what the payrate is (im sure its better than what I have now).

I was surprised that they called, I filled out the application around 2 months ago. I didn't do the drug screen or the physical yet but that wont be a problem, I think she will have me training to work the dock because im positive you cant drive before the drug screen etc comes back.

she was pretty quick in explaining everything but I think im basically going to fill in where other people aren't which will almost certainly be night shift, and then after a period of time I get hired on fully, and bid on a start time etc..I think she said 60 days before I get benefits.
