Matt, don't even think about looking for another company yet. Stick with Werner, keep your nose clean and be a yes man. Stick it for at least six months(probably eight with you training hours), then try for a local run. You will not have any fun with your kids whilst worrying about paychecks, suffer the discomfort now and enjoy later - Best of luck, be strong and remember, it's your life and your opinions, you own them, don't give them to others. There's a lot of good comment out there, you have to recognize it and ignore the dream stealers.

For the record, I used to drive for Werners, I don't drive at all now, but I have experienced them as an employer - Good luck for the future!

Actually they have to allow you time for Guard and Reserve duty by law. If they wont work with you for that you need to talk to your liason officer or whatever they call him now and let him know this. Also, if your unit activates and is deployed for any reason, they must by law hold your job for you at the pay rate that you would have been at if you had been an active employee all that time and you have 30 days after coming off active duty to reclaim it. Talk to your veterans affair officer and they will tell you this.

Am almost done with required training hours with them.. snuck a quick trip home before delivering next load tomorrow.. My thoughts are that it's not too bad.. I will of course be happy to get into my own truck. Been up and down the rockies, cascades, and utah's and wyoming's fun hills many many times now.. amazing how my shifting has improved from it.

My start date is January 5th, with Werner. Any last words for me? I've read several stories of having to wait close to a month for your own truck. How often does this really happen?

I thought I was in with a company training program but because of the economy they are now only taking ppl with a cdl. I have now been out of of unclaimable work for four months that makes it harder to get on anywhere. so be proud of yourself for having a JOB. I guess soon i will have to get a room in Lexington just to get a job. I live in a small town, with a big mortgage. So keep up the good work.:biggrin_25520: PS. If anyone knows of a campany that will hire anyone not working for a while let me know. thank Im going to check with PAM.
