Wtf, is the disconnect between sales and dispatch?

In the short time Ive been here, Ive had 3 instances where a load was cancled or had already been shipped, meanwhile Im still assigned the load. No one calls sends messages or anything about the load being cancled.

Ive shown up to 2 locations to pick up a load only to find it was canceled or shipped on another truck before I got there with no update to the driver. Yesterday, I called to see if I could pick up a load early only to find out it was also cancled..

It also happened once while I was in training. Ive also delt with appointment times being wrong from what my dispatched load shows vs what the customer said. (This has happened twice)

These issues have happened across 3 dispatchers from my training, to company and now lease. This makes me believe the problem resides in sales, so wtf gives?

I can't be the only one dealing with these problems right?

i do not work for Prime, but yet, i have been through this BS, as well as i'd surmise nearly any driver, from any company.

1st, it has to do with available trucks in the area. maybe you WERE the nearest truck when you got assigned, BUT another truck that maybe was closer but was detained that the company waited on, and became free, so they re-assign.

what i'd do is call them every now and then and confirm your load(s). as a lease operator, you can ill afford to be driving around, burning up valuable fuel.

Even if another truck had been assigned to the load, which happened only in the case of the time I was still in training there is zero excuse for them to not update the 1st truck..

You are going to run into this problem wherever you go.

I recall a load from roughly... Plainview Tx (Meat plant) going to NE Omaha suburbs to the customer there. My Dispatcher was nice enough to instruct me that there is some doubt as to being able to deliver this thing. I said to him why am I under this #### thing now you (bad word) tell me this tidbit.

I spent the entire trip calling in every 100 miles or so to find out if customer still wanted it. 30 miles left to delivery they finally dug in and said hell no.

Back to Plainview Texas I went. Paid both ways. When I got there they said WTF? And the yelling started. Don't look at me, Im just a chump who wasted 4 days on this stupid aimless wandering load to no where.

i agree it would have been the proper thing to do. but then. "properly" does not rest on thier shoulders, as much as it does yours.

they will give you the same song and dance routine we all get..
"do you know how many trucks we have"?

"do you know how many trucks i gotta keep track of"?

    etc,,etc.

    get used to it.

Obviously your time is worth nothing and you were not important enough to be kept in the loop.

They had me drive from CT to OH with out a load to get me in a better freight lane. (Said there was too many trucks in tne NE). It was 650 miles plus tolls with no income but being told Id get a good load to make up for it..

When I get there they try to give me a load that paid $650 and it didnt pick up for another day... I was like wtf.. there is no way Im taking just that after driving 650 miles.. They end up giving me a 2nd load that paid well as a preplan. All in all with both loads, it made the move worth while.

Now, keep in mind this after having my last load delivered on Thurs night, where I sat there 12hrs untill Friday morning.. Meaning I didnt have a load on my truck since Friday morning of last week..

After diving to OH and sitting almost 24hrs I got the 1st load and end up with a 34hr reset then called to see if I could pick up that load early only to find out it was cancled. That load was supposed to take me from OH to IL where Id pick up the 2nd load..

I ended up sitting at the truck stop for 48hrs not including my sit time before they had me move to OH nor the 650 mile drive. So it was roughly 3 days with no load on my truck..
So now I had to drive to Chicago, IL with no load making it over 900 miles Ive dead headed. I get to this shipper with a order that has two PO's and the shipper tells me the 2nd PO# doesn't exisit..

Now Im sitting here with 1 PO loaded and sales/dispatch wont let me leave... Ive been here almost 3hrs now and Im up aginst my 14 now, meaning I wont get the distance I wanted to get today..

Im starting to get really pissed at this crap and Im a hard person to make angry.

It is Prime's sales team that usually drops the ball in those situations, and nothing ever gets said to the sales team because they are Roberts pride and joy.. more than once I've heard the sales team be praised for making all the money.

If you think you are going to lose the temper, tell it to a tree.

This is not meant to be disrespectful, there has been a tree or three Ive told off rather than roar at the dispatch and say things I cannot take back.

Do what you can to keep your mind clear for the road. Hang in there.
