I've had my class 1 license in Canada for 3 years and am currently looking for new work. Some companies advertising a job position ask for an AZ driver's license. Can someone tell me if this is different than a class 1? Or is it just another way of saying the same thing?

All states comply with CDL Licensing under Federal Laws.

I suspect there might be a developing situation with Real ID act in the USA which makes enhanced licensing mandatory by 2020, to gain access to federal installations such as Courthouses and Board domestic flights among other things. Everyone else is excluded.

I don't know enough about AZ to proceed any further, But in the USA, CDL licensing for CMV is regulated by the Federal Government. The States have to fall in line and comply across the board.
